Sony Vaio Z505JS SuperSlim Pro Notebook

(2000) 650mhz Pentium III, 128M ram, 12G hard drive, 12.1" TFT (1024x768), v.90 modem, i.LINK, Ethernet, 100mhz bus, external CD. Size: 1" thick (1.15" X 10.8" X 8.9", HxWxD), 3.75 pounds (with standard battery). The standard lithium battery lasts 1-2 hours, but I opted for the 4-6 hour extended battery (a bit heavier). It runs Windows98 2nd edition, and Red Hat Linux 6.2, with Python on both sides. My prior laptop (here) used to be state of the art two years ago, but it started feeling slow and heavy--this new machine is roughly twice as fast and half as heavy (though I'm sure it will seem slow in a couple of years too; see my newer notebook here).
